Yes, I'm talking about myself in 3rd person again!
The idea to write a story for young people to learn more about life in the ocean came to me at the beginning of 2017. I told my writer friend about the concept in a taxi on our way to hike a mountain. Of course, she encouraged me to make it happen.
Over the next year I ended up crafting not one but three interconnected story ideas, each one taking place in a different part of the world, exploring different marine species and problems. Scuba diving in Southeast Asia and living by the sea in Southern China fueled my creative inspiration for the first book. I also spent time researching some of the mythology and ancient beliefs in the area regarding the human connection to the sea, so there is definitely a strong cultural influence throughout the story.
Initially I had saved and planned to spend the end of 2020 and the following 6 months on sabbatical, working on publishing this book. However, the Covid-19 pandemic changed everything for everyone, stretching this project out for me another year and a half. I am just so grateful to finally reach this point and announce to you all that the English e-book will be available for you to purchase and read on March 27, 2022.
